Unilap was founded as South Yorkshire Saw & Tool Co. by Darrell Hughes, with a vision to provide high-quality tool sharpening and supply services to the woodworking industry. With a commitment to customer satisfaction, the company began offering a reliable local pick-up and delivery service within a 100-mile radius of Doncaster.
Unilap invests in it’s 1st CNC Saw Grinder
The business underwent a rebrand to Systco-Unilap Ltd., trading as Unilap. This move reflected the company’s growing scope and commitment to offering not just sharpening, but also an extensive range of cutting tools and equipment to meet the evolving needs of customers.
Recognising the growing demand for PCD tooling, Unilap made a strategic decision to invest in state-of-the-art machinery and electronic projection equipment. This investment propelled Unilap to the forefront of the industry, enabling us to offer advanced tool manufacturing and servicing, especially for PCD tools, with rapid turnaround times across the UK.
Unilap purchases Unit 3 next door to it’s current factory. This will double it’s floor space and house the ever growing PCD servicing and manufacturing equipment (current 1992 image)
